World Prematurity Day 2016 - Sheffield

As part of our continued support we are so incredibly proud to be able to sponsor World Prematurity Day in Sheffield this year to raise awareness for premature births and support all the families of premature babies, not just in Sheffield, but all over the world.  We would love it if you could join us on 17th November (4pm – 6pm) at The Winter Gardens in Sheffield and turn Sheffield purple to raise awareness for World Prematurity Day. Come along and don’t forget to wear purple!

Two years ago we started a project that we hoped would give something back to The Jessops after they looked after Nicola Spencer’s premature twins so unbelievably well back in 2014.

Together, with the guidance of the staff on NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), we put together some suitable patterns and put out a call for anyone who had the talent, that we don’t have in the office, of knitting tiny baby cardigans and blankets. We could never, ever have imagined how well received this would have been by you all and how many absolutely gorgeous garments would come flooding in.

The range of people who have contributed is unbelievable! We have regular knitters who make the trip from the other side of South Yorkshire with their knitting, church groups who bring enormous bags of blankets and clients who bring us more wool than we can shake a stick at.

So, every few months we take a HUGE car load of knitting up to the hospital, we all get emotional about when our own babies were born there and feel better about the state of the world when we see just how much you all care. But we still need more.

What you’re all doing is so important to the tiny premature babies but also to the parents and staff in NICU. This is not something that has an end date.

We will always happily receive your knitting or, if like us, you can’t knit for toffee, donations of wool for people to use is also great. We cannot thank you enough for all of the wool & knitting that we’ve had since April 2015. Long may it continue! As you can see, Maddie and Rudi have come a very long way from their knitted cardies to now....

If you would like any knitting patterns emailing to you or would like any more information please don’t hesitate to contact Nicola on Nicola@SpencersEstateAgents.co.uk or 0114 2683682.
