5 Ways to prepare your
house for a viewing
1. First impressions are everything
Apparently humans automatically make a judgement about
someone in the blink of an eye. The same applies to your house! Clean up the gutters, remove the weeds from the garden and
clean the windows. Potential buyers will often drive by a house before the
viewing takes place so make sure that first impression is a good one. Simple steps but they make a huge difference!
2. Let there be light!
Make every room in the house seems as bright as possible.
Open your windows, doors and blinds to let some natural light in. Also try
placing some lamps or spotlights around any dark areas you may have.
This will make even your dimmest room seem larger and more welcoming.
3. Declutter!
Try and keep your home spotless while it’s on the market.
You never know when you might have a last minute viewing and
a tidy home will give the impression of more space. This also makes it easier
for potential buyers to imagine their own furniture in the rooms.
Even try to declutter your cupboards. If a potential buyer
looks in there and finds it bursting with stuff, it can give the impression
that there is very limited storage in the property.
4. Say goodbye to Lassy
We’re a nation of animal lovers, however a lot of home buyers
are not so keen.
You should try and get rid of any pet related signs, such as
hair, toys, baskets and the hardest to get rid of, the smell.
5. Fresh coffee anyone?
It may sound silly, however it works! Fill your home with
smells of freshly brewed coffee, baked bread or freshly cut flowers.
This will give your home a welcoming feel and gives the buyer
a sense of welcoming nostalgia, making them instantly feel at home.
Try it, it really does help!
We hope these little tips can help you when your house is up
for sale.
