Spencers Agents Purchase

News is filtering through of the purchase of Spencers Agents Limited by Spencer Property Limited, a company formed by Directors Nicola Spencer and Lee Bullen. Due to start in the office at 469 Ecclesall Road, Sheffield on November the 1st, Nicola Spencer is the daughter of current Directors, Anne and Jim Spencer, who will phase in a retirement plan over the coming months. Jim Spencer will be staying at Spencers Agents on a consultancy basis under contract for the next two years, and Anne will be in the office until the New Year.

Nicola Spencer worked as Senior Valuer and Office Manager for twelve years at Spencers Surveyors and left three years ago for Edinburgh, where she worked within the property industry at Grant Management and at Dickins, at the same time as being the Secretary for the NAEA Scotland branch. Nicola says “Running the family business always felt like my destiny, but the opportunity to relocate to Edinburgh with Lee was right and has been incredibly valuable to learn more about other company policies, strategies, processes, and technologies. Serendipity has played it’s part within the purchase of the company, as I believed I had missed the boat when the deal was being done with Countrywide for the Property Management Department; sometimes though luck, pluck and timing has more to do with anything than strategic planning.”

Lee Bullen has a degree in Sports Media incorporating journalism, PR, and media marketing, and may be better known in the city of Sheffield for having been the Captain at Sheffield Wednesday FC. What people may not know about Lee is that he travelled the world playing football, and had a full-time career at the Alliance and Leicester before he took his sporting opportunity. Lee, who has left his position as Assistant Manager of Falkirk Football Club, said “There are many aspects to management of people that are transferable throughout all industries. We are stepping into an established company with values of great integrity, professionalism, and tradition. Jim Spencer has an enormously respected position within the industry through his work with the RICS, the NAEA and as a spokesperson for the property market within the city; I am looking forward to learning as much as possible from him going forwards.”

Nicola and Lee are going to focus the time up until Christmas on research into new technologies, as well as information and ideas from the staff, who are looking forward to the future of Spencers Agents with new enthusiasm. “The staff have been great about the return of Nicola, as the majority worked with her before.” Jim Spencer commented, “Anne and I are more than happy to move aside for the new generation to move forwards with mobile websites, iPads, QR codes, and all of the exciting new technologies. We will, of course, be on hand at all times to help out in any way that we can.”
